When it comes to termination settlement proposals, it is not always in the best interest of the contractor to throw a proposal together quickly in the hopes of a quick settlement. To do so, increases the risk that you will miss all claimable costs while still not making a quick settlement. The settlement process is not usually a quick process. After DCAA's audit is completed, the TCO must review the report and prepare a negotiation objective. This often takes several months as the TCO usually has several proposals to review and settle at any given time. Constant communication with the Government is critical to keeping the settlement process moving expeditiously.
